CRACKED CONCRETE,made level again.
Cracked, lifted and sunken concrete is repairable up to a point, and past that point it is cheaper to replace the section than to keep patching it. Grain & Co. looks at what moved the slab before quoting either, because a repair over a base that is still washing out fails again.
Grain & Co. repairs and replaces walkways, steps, patios and driveway sections. You get told plainly which of the two your slab needs and what each one costs.
- Cracked, lifted and sunken slabs
- Walkways, steps, patios and driveways
- The cause found before the repair is priced
- Section replacement where repair will not hold
QUESTIONS ABOUTconcrete repair.
Can cracked concrete be repaired or does it have to be replaced?
Both are real answers and the slab decides which. A crack in a sound slab on a sound base is a repair. A slab that has sunk, lifted at the joints or broken into pieces is usually cheaper to replace in sections. Grain & Co. tells you which one yours is before quoting it.
Why did my concrete crack or sink?
Usually the ground under it moved, most often because water washed out the base or the slab was poured on fill that was never compacted. That is the part worth fixing, because a repair laid over a base that is still moving cracks again.
Can a sunken walkway be lifted back to level?
Sometimes, and sometimes the section comes out and is re-poured. Which one is right depends on how far it dropped and what is under it, so Grain & Co. looks at the slab and the ground beside it before saying.
Will a concrete repair match the color of the old slab?
New concrete is lighter than weathered concrete and stays visibly different for a long time. It evens out slowly with sun and rain, and it never matches exactly. Worth knowing before you choose a patch over replacing the whole section.
